Over the past year, we have made significant improvements to our warehouse. Our goal is to make it a place in which people feel comfortable and happy to volunteer and congregate with others. Recently, a donor that shares this value generously gave $5,000 to enhance the volunteer experience. So far, we have used the funding to purchase narrow pallet jacks designed to fit underneath couches, dressers, and other large furniture, along with an antifatigue mat to make standing for long periods of time to sort household goods more comfortable. Our hope is to eliminate the intimidation around volunteering regardless of one’s strength or ability. We will continue to use the funding for this purpose and welcome ideas to make the various volunteer tasks at New Life approachable and appealing.
