- Do not stand or ride on dollies.
- If putting one foot on the dolly is necessary, one foot should always be on the floor and other volunteers should be holding the dolly still.
- Distribute heavy weight as evenly as possible to avoid breaking the wheels.
- To avoid breaking the wheels, 1) the elevator should be lined up within a ½” of the floor when loading/unloading and 2) heavy weight should be distributed evenly.
- If a dolly breaks or feels like it’s going to break, notify the Operations Manager, leave the dolly aside, and put a note on it so others don’t use it.
- Level the elevator so that it is within a 1/2 inch roughly before rolling a dolly on or off when there is weight on it. This has led to wheels breaking.
