Steps #
1. Assemble #
- Assemble dishes, beginning with any matching dishes. Each place setting must have all 4 components listed below.
- Dishes are rarely donated in complete sets. If incomplete, complete the set with different colored/patterned dishes that go well together.
- If there are 9+ matching dishes, use them to create more than one set.
- Do not start packing them yet.
What’s in a place setting? #
2. Optional: Include serving pieces and extras that match or go well together with the set. e.g. microwavable serving bowl, sugar bowl, creamer, placemats #
3. Fill out a dish set form with a marker indicating the contents of the set. e.g. 4 dinner plate, 4 small plates, 4 bowls, 5 mugs #
In place of the dish set number, print and apply an inventory sticker.
4. Set up a sample with a full place setting and the form. #
Including serving pieces and placemats, etc. is not necessary.
5. Take a clear photo of a sample place setting with the label and send to the Uploader. #
6. Pack the dish set, including the sample, in a sturdy box using coordinating placemats, tablecloths, cloth napkins and/or other packing material to protect the dishes. #
- The contents should not be able to move much. Remember, these boxes pass through a lot of hands and need to survive delivery.
- Tape the box closed and adhere the label to the front of the box.
- Secure the bottom of the box.
